Woohoo! Free Wireless
As you can tell from my domain name I consider myself to be somewhat of what Eric Cartman refers to as a “god damn hippie” (without the long hair or new age bullcrap). Part of this means sharing. So I’ve finally opened my wireless connection to anybody who wants to use it, for free.
The main reason I haven’t done this in the past is I like sharing things, but I’m not so insane as I don’t have stuff I want to keep private. So until I could develop a way to connect to my other ...read more
A Special Message Just for Tim
we interrupt this non-regularly scheduled weblog to bring a special message just for Tim.
Thanks for the spelling correction guy!
I just bought Harry Nilsson’s album The Point from the iTunes Music Store. I grew up listening to this album (and if my brothers or sister read this – yes I’ve the album! Ha! Ha!) and it kicks butt.
Oh and even though I’ve got the vinyl album, I no longer have a turntable to play it on, hence the iTunes purchase (and now I can put it on my iPod).
Link to album (I think that requires iTunes for it to work.)complete
Found on my desk
I should probably start a new category “Weird things I’ve found on my desk”. Cleaning off my desk at work (for the new year!) I found a half-used Far Side desk calendar.
No big deal, except it’s from 2002. Apparently it hasn’t been seen since August 15th 2002.complete
My first applescript studio app
I wrote my first Applescript Studio. It’s a simple password generator but I think it’s pretty cool. If you have Mac OS X 10.2 or greater you can click here to download. I wrote with Apple’s XCode so the source may only be viewable on 10.3.
Applescript stuido is pretty neat. An admirable competitor to Visual Basic, with the huge benefit of being free (as in beer). The language scans funny if you’ve written in other languages, but it reads pretty well as english.
Here’s the core routine that generates a password. PassLen ...read more
Stupid Music for Commercials
I just saw the HP digital camera where they use The Cure’s Pictures of You as the music. This has got to be one of the more retarded choices of background music I’ve heard.
This song is about someone who’s love has left them forever and all they are left with are the pictures.
I guess HP’s message is “buy our camera and your loved ones will leave you.”
Damn good song though!complete
The Lord of the Rings
I saw the Return of the King a few weeks ago (a couple of days after it opened.) There are probably some spoilers below so if you don’t want to read them, stop reading now and go see the damn thing already!
As a whole, the movies are excellent. Pretty well acted, well directed, beautiful landscapes, and great use of special effects.
The Lord of the Rings makes the best use of really great special effects. I don’t know why, but many people seem to think that a great movie that had special effects was great because of ...read more
One of my favorite days
December 21st, the winter solstice, is one of my favorite days. I’m not overly fond of winter so it might seem odd that I like the shortest day of the year. But to me it’s the turning point, we now begin our journey toward spring. Today will be a short day, but tommorrow will be longer and the day after that even longer. Sweet.complete
